A new online challenge has gone viral and is prompting people to clean up trash-stricken areas and post before and after photos. Known as the trashtag challenge, the campaign is an effort to clean up litter and trash in public places.
Unlike other prevalent online challenges, this one makes people feel good about themselves and the environment around them and helps to clean up spaces for others. The challenge is thought to have been started by an outdoor equipment company in 2015, but was brought back to prominence recently.
