Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been declared triumphant in Turkey’s presidential vote, amid accusations of manipulation by his opponents.

The victory gives Erdogan a second five-year term and more power than any of his predecessors.

The new system creates a vertical power structure with Erdogan at the top, giving him the power to appoint cabinet ministers and dispensing with the office of prime minister.

Under Turkey's new constitution, Erdogan could serve a further term from 2023, taking him to 2028.

According to results published by Turkey's state news agency, Erdogan won 52.5 percent of the vote.
