A new report by the U.S.-based Pew Research Center shows that Korea ranks first in the world when it comes to smartphone ownership and internet usage.
Nine out of ten Korean adults use the internet and own a smartphone. South Korea's ownership rate of smartphones stood at 94 percent.
Israel came in at second place with 83 percent followed by Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands and Lebanon. The United States ranked eighth at 77 percent.
Korea also had the highest internet penetration in the world at 96 percent.
However, Korea's social networking site usage was relatively lower at 3rd place with a rate of 69 percent, which was on-par with the U.S. and Australia.
