Doctors have identified a new genetic mutation in a woman that enables her to barely feel pain or anxiety.
The 71-year-old retired teacher who has the mutation has experienced broken limbs, cuts and burns,
childbirth, and numerous surgical operations with little or no need for pain relief.
In addition to living virtually pain-free, the woman in question rarely experiences anxiety or
stress and is considered by everyone to be a happy-go-lucky person.
Researchers believe that studying her genetic mutation will lead to new treatments for chronic pain.
