Users of one of Korea's major anti-SPAM applications reported more than 16.2 million of the insidious messages last year, equating to approximately 44,000 per day. The number represents an increase of about 32%, or, in hard numbers, more than 3.9 million more SPAM messages in 2018. Messages for illegal gambling stood head and shoulders above those for loans in second place and general telemarketing in third. Unlike in 2017, when nearly 25% of reports were made in the last two months of the year, 2018 saw a relatively more even distribution.
