'Hope Diamond' aka Titanic Diamond Necklace, National Museum of Natural History, Washington, DC

A cursed diamond necklace that is rare and very expensive, but is said to bring misfortune to those who own it. There is a necklace like that in Washington D.C.

The diamond exhibition hall on the second floor of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. displays a rare necklace called the ‘Hope Diamond.’ This necklace, which consists of 16 white diamonds surrounding a blue diamond in the center and a chain made of 46 diamonds, is called the ‘Necklace of Misfortune,’ unlike its name, ‘Hope.’ This is because it is said that those who own this necklace will suffer misfortune and die.

In the movie ‘Titanic,’ the ‘Heart of the Ocean’ that Rose (played by Kate Winslet) received as a gift from her fiancé was modeled after this necklace. Including the Hope Diamond, the rare diamonds Florentine, Sancy, and Regent are also called the four cursed diamonds.

The Hope Diamond Necklace is on display at the National Museum of Natural History, along with a statue of the donor, Harry Winston. The story of the donation is written down, and the statue of Harry Winston’s face is imprinted with the marks of visitors’ hands.
