The Korean government has announced its plans to create a so-called "smart traffic light" that can preempt danger with digital signals. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will start full-fledged development and testing of a smart road lighting platform in conjuction with several other ministries. To this end, MOLIT will establish a service strategy to provide the road lighting platform and establish an experimental test bed. The project aims to reduce traffic accidents by providing information on various road environments, not just street lights.
