Mysterious radio bursts from 1.5 billion light-years away have led some experts to suggest they could be evidence of advanced alien life. Astronomers detected 13 high-speed bursts of radio waves coming from deep space, including one that regularly repeats. Each burst lasts just thousandths of a second and were first discovered in 2007. Their cause has remained a puzzle. The radio waves themselves also may get twisted as they travel through space. However, the structure of the new repeating burst is strikinglysimilar to the only other repeater ever found. The findings will help our understanding of what's in between the seemingly empty space between galaxies.
